Breaking the Rules Group Programme
A six week course supporting people to step away from restrictive beliefs and behaviours, and confidently embrace their perfectly imperfect selves.
What we do
Pause to examine restrictive beliefs and unhelpful behaviours that no longer serve you well
Explore ways to step out of autopilot and attune to your own needs, rather than being governed by shoulds & oughts
Develop a more playful attitude towards food, your wellbeing and a compassionate relationship with yourself
Emerge ready to embrace your perfectly imperfect self

“I knew it would be a really kind and safe space but I was nervous that I wouldn’t feel comfortable. But it really was a wonderful experience and Marissa and Natalie made it a warm and caring space and brought a lot of practical and relevant perspectives that helped challenge in a positive way.”
What the course will cover
1.
Unhelpful rules: what are they and how do they impact our physical and emotional wellbeing?
2.
Moving past “shoulds” & tuning into ourselves: how to discern what we really feel & confidently meeting our own needs
3.
Building self-trust and connecting to the body by learning how to practically live a rule-free, needs focused life
4.
Self-criticism: What is it? How is it impacting us? How to develop greater self compassion

This is for you if…
> You know you hold some unhelpful beliefs or behaviours around food and are ready to identify and challenge them
> You’re ready to learn coping strategies and techniques to step away from restrictive beliefs and behaviours
> You’re ready to tune into your own needs rather than being ruled by “shoulds” or “oughts”
> You need support in developing self-compassion and challenging self-criticism
> You recognise the harmful nature of diet culture’s rules and restrictions but you need help to cultivate your own self-care needs and navigate the conflicting advice around exercising and diet
Breaking the Rules group programmes are for anyone over the age of 16, of any gender, who wants to explore where unhelpful rules are making life less fun, more stressful & difficult and preventing you from thriving in your relationships, at work, in education and within yourself.
It is also a space to explore whether unhelpful rules are perpetuating issues around disordered eating, disordered exercise, stress and anxiety.
Within the Breaking the Rules group we look at identifying unhelpful rules that no longer serve us well, tuning into our own needs rather than being ruled by ‘shoulds’ or ‘oughts’ or ‘musts’.
As well as developing a more playful attitude towards food and your wellbeing, our aim is to help you become more compassionate, be able to put aside self-criticism and challenge unwell behaviours and dogma.

“I would definitely recommend. I enjoyed the experience immensely and it really changed my perspective. I have taken a way lots of good tools to challenge all the rules I’ve listened to and believed most of my life.”
